A Little Push Goes a Long Way

Urban Allure is something I had wanted for a very long time, but for one reason or another it never came to be. I had given up on Urban Allure ever coming into existence and tried to accept that it would simply not work out. It wasn't until my best friend suggested that I work on it and keep going until I had the shop I had been dreaming of for so long. So at the turn of the year I spent day and night making products, reading online policies, working out photo shoots, unearthing previous projects, pricing, describing, and everything that it takes to build your own online business. On January 27, 2011, Urban Allure was born. None of that could have happened without the push of a best friend and sister to pursue a desire of my heart.

Happy Birthday Alicia! Thank you for your love and encouragement that pushed me to work harder and dream bigger than I ever thought I could.

 

Friday Favorites

I found some FANTASTIC shops while searching for this week's Friday Favorites. But just a word of warning, once you start browsing their shops, it is hard to stop!!!!

I told you I am a sucker for dresses and this one is absolutely elegant! It is made from mustard-colored jersey and beautiful designed as a timeless and versatile piece. This dress and numerous other gorgeous dresses can be found at Onor Fashion run from Tel-Aviv, Israel. Onor Fashion has undoubtedly become a quick favorite and I am looking forward to checking out their shop often in the future!

This abstract modern art caught my eye and became even more beautiful the longer I observed it. It's amber and turquoise hues create the perfect setting for a rising sun and a new day. Thank you MADART for your wonderful work!

Friday Favorites

I am beginning an weekly tradition of "Friday Favorites". Every Friday I am going to pick out a couple of my favorites items from fellow shop owners on etsy.com to share with you all! The first of my faves is one that I found long ago. It was the very first item that I "favorited" on the site. I think this idea is adorable and that the photo setting is perfect at showing off just how charming this pillows are. Thank you shop dirtsa!

It should be know, I am a sucker for dresses. I would conjecture a guess to that every Friday Favorites will probably include a dress. This week, aftershowershop's blue halter dress caught my eye. Formulating...

Unfortunately, my "special plan" failed. I was attempting to imprint letters into the leather of the wallets in order to personalize them. But the leather simply wouldn't take. The letter  was easily rubbed out. I am disappointed but hey, it wasn't meant to be!

This week is dedicated to getting my name out there. I need to take a week to stop creating my products and work on getting my present products seen. I'm also working on future contests to be held on this blog. Excited for the what this is going to mean for Urban Allure!

 I could always run my business alone, but half of the joy ride is running Urban Allure with the ones I love. Whether if it's going on shopping trips with my mom for supplies, getting my brothers' opinion on the blog, asking Kellie which button is best, coming up with the best description with Alexa, or picking out the perfect photos with Alicia - it's what makes creating Urban Allure one of the most enjoyable things I do with my day.

Photo Day and Classy Clutches

Another absolutely gorgeous day in Long Beach + a great camera + a wonderful model, Alexa = a FANTASTIC photo shoot day. This courtyard at Cal State University Long Beach was the perfect recipe for the shoot I wanted: a good bench and a staircase. Thankfully, today's work results in a new item in Urban Allure every night this week!

" Wave of Color " Wallet

It ended up being an absolutely beautiful day so I was thankfully able to get three of the wallets modeled today. I was going to wait until tomorrow to post the first, but I couldn't wait. :) Just one more photo shoot and we'll be set for the week! Two clutches and six wallets on the way to the store - its a good week. :)

Solid, Simple, and Beautiful

I wasn't sure if I would find the buttons I was looking for today, but these are exactly what I wanted: solid, simple, and beautiful. They will be the perfect touch to the wallets. Now let's just hope the forecast is wrong for the next two days so we can still run the photo shoot! Because rain isn't going to do us any good!

The First of Many

Roadblocks and Buttons

I made so much progress on my newest purse- and then discovered I left a very important tool back in Long Beach. I guess I'll just have to wait and finish the purse next week!

With one project on hold, it's on to others!! And there is nothing like rummaging through mom's old buttons to gather some supplies!
