A Collective Journey and Plenty of Projects!

Redlands, California was today's pick of a shopping destination adventure. There are so many great shops to peruse in Redlands, but there is one shop in particular I can never quite pass up: Collective Journey Scrapbooking. This store never fails at making one want to start 5 different projects at once! (Which, of course, makes it quite a dangerous playground.) The bottle caps I came searching for happened to be out of stock but fortunately simply browsing the shelves is an adventure alone. I always find a new gadget I didn't know existed and a gorgeous color scheme I would have never thought to put together myself.

Afterward, I headed to purchase my normal stock of leather and now cannot wait to make them anything but ordinary. I have got one purse and eight wallets on their way to Urban Allure. Hopefully they will be making their appearance in about 7-10 days!

An " Inspiration Trip "

Today my mother and I went on an "inspiration trip", as she has deemed our adventure as such. We visited two antique stores in my hometown while I'm home for the week: a beautiful antique mall called Mission Gallaria, as well as our Old Glory Department Store. I browsed countless shelves and hundred of old books, furniture, records, magazines, hats, figurines, salt and pepper shakers, buttons, and jewelry. One could easily spend DAYS in there! While I did not purchase anything, my true purpose for browsing for so many hours was to gain an idea or two - some inspiration. I searched the shelves for anything that caught my eye and would perhaps rustle some ingenious and revolutionary ideas that have yet to be aroused. To my surprise, the item that continually begged my attention was - a globe. And just like when you buy a minivan, you suddenly see minivans everywhere, there appeared a different globe at every turn! So let's just say I'm thinking something slightly...international...is in the future for Urban Allure.

The Outpouring of a Heart

There is a desire within each of us, in the deep center of ourselves that we call our heart. We were born with it, it is never completely satisfied, and it never dies. We are often unaware of it, but it is always awake...Our true identity, our reason for being, is to be found in this desire.
- Gerald May "The Awakened Heart"

To many, Urban Allure is just a shop. But to me, Urban Allure is the outpouring of the desires of my heart. It is far from perfect and I have a long way to go, but there are few things I enjoy more than creating Urban Allure. And I will continue to until the Lord directs me otherwise.

I suppose that if you, some of you strangers, are going to be seeing the outpouring of my heart, you should know a thing or two about myself! My name is Katy Thomson. I am a born and raised product of Southern California, specifically of Riverside, home of the most beautiful scent one could ever dream of, orange blossoms!! I am a student at Cal State University Long Beach as a Medical Sociology student - hoping to become a hospital administrator someday. I love fish as pets. I have a tank...or two...full of cory catfish, guppies, platties, x-ray catfish, and my particular favorite, our leporinus fasciatus. Last but not least, the most important thing in my life is my relationship with God. Not only would I be a basket case without Him, but there is no one else who deserves all glory, honor, praise, and dedication!

Blessings to you all!
